Guide to Your Doctor’s Visit

Help your doctor help you. Make sure he or she knows exactly how you’ve been feeling. Follow the tips below to prepare for your next appointment—and help your doctor determine if SYNVISC® is right for you.

Describing your knee pain

  1. Be ready to describe your knee pain in detail. When does your pain worsen? Jot down any specific activities that trigger your knee pain.
  2. Explain how your pain is affecting your life. Does knee pain make it more difficult to work, do household chores or enjoy your favorite hobbies? If knee pain is affecting your mood, explain that too.
  3. Keep a list of the medications and treatments you’ve tried. Be ready to describe how well they’ve worked—or not worked—and any side effects you may have experienced.

Discussing your treatment

  1. Ask your doctor for a treatment plan. It may include a variety of recommendations, including diet, exercise and lifestyle changes.
  2. Be sure to ask for your plan in writing—for easy reference.
  3. Ask questions in advance. It’s important to have a treatment plan that you can follow—so let the doctor know if any part of the plan doesn’t seem feasible.
